Be a Part of the 100th Tour de France on a Bike Tour in Corsica
by Bike tour guru
2013 marks a truly historic year in cycling: Not only will it mark the 100th edition of the Tour de France, but it will also be the very first time that the race has visited the stunning Mediterranean island of Corsica. In its long history, the Tour has visited every other department of France, save Corsica. It seems that they have saved the best for last, and our Corsica Tour de France bike tour will get you right at the center of all the action.
After Team Sky stamped its unquestionable authority on the race in 2012, the 100th edition of the Tour, though a year away, already promises to be action-packed. Can Bradley Wiggins defend his crown? Will Chris Froome remain loyal to his team captain yet again? Or will he pursue his own yellow jersey dreams? Can Cadel Evans bounce back from a disastrous race in 2012? And will the young American Tejay van Garderen build on the promise he already displayed this year with his fifth place finish in Paris?
Whatever the outcome, you can be there to witness a truly amazing week in cycling history. Our 2013 cycling tour will encompass all three Corsican stages of the 100th Grand Départ of le Tour. We'll get to ride all of the fantastic and challenging routes ourselves and cheer on the riders for the first three exciting days of the race. Best of all, our special VIP access will let us meet the riders of the Liquigas-Cannondale cycling team and get behind the scenes with them at the race. We'll meet stars like Peter Sagan, the green jersey and triple stage winner at the 2012 Tour.
Corsica, l'Isle de Beauté, is truly a pearl of the Mediterranean Sea. Having successfully avoided infringement from tourism and commercialization for generations, the island's impeccably preserved and remarkably diverse landscape make for a sensual experience of the highest order and offers some of the best cycling anywhere in the world. The stark contrast between the mountains and the sea is simply a staggering sight to see. For the avid cyclist, the routes are simply unbeatable. The mountainous island is certain to challenge the strongest of riders, including the pros themselves. Meanwhile, the flat and rolling coastal roads perched atop the seaside cliffs offer incredible views on every side of the island without the challenge of tackling mountain passes. There's something for every type of rider here, and it's the perfect place to visit anytime of year.
Corsica is more than just a cycling paradise, though. It's also home to some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean. Especially in the fall, the long, sandy shores will be totally cleared out, so you can enjoy the sunny days in complete solitude. The temperate waters of the Mediterranean will call out to you, offering great swimming, snorkeling, and wind surfing if you're looking to try out another activity. If you happen upon a cloudy day, take yourself up to the mountain trails and explore a piece of the GR 20, a 180 km trail that traverses the island from north to south. It is easily one of the most spectacular places to hike in  he world, and it often takes 15 dates to conquer in its entirety. Of course, you don't need to walk the entire trail to get the full experience of this remarkable place.
With so much to do, it's well worth showing up to Corsica ahead of time to pack in a few extra days of relaxation and adventure before exploring the island by bike and cheering on the Tour de France.
To match its stunning coastal and mountain views, Corsica is also home to some equally outstanding resorts. And we'll be visiting nothing but the best of them. After every day of challenging riding, you can count on the perfect accommodations to leave you fully rested for the next incredible day. And Corsica is known excellent fresh seafood, as well as some fascinating wines, so you can look forward to a delicious meal every night.
So don't spend too long mourning the end of the 2012 Tour de France. Now is the perfect time to start planning for next year, when you can be a part of history. Join us at 100th Tour de France in Corsica in 2013.
