The PMC’s Billy Starr Visits DuVine

As many of you may already know, the Pan-Mass Challenge is an outstanding charitable organization that has raised an incredible amount of money in the fight against cancer. Founded in 1980 by Billy Starr, the PMC is a charity bicycle ride through the state of Massachusetts. Over the years, the routes have changes and expanded, riders have come and gone, and the event has grown and grown. Last year alone, 5,169 riders and 3,100 volunteers were part of the PMC. Today, it is the most successful athletic fundraising event in the United States, having raised a grand total of $338 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since its inception, with all-time highs of $35 million in both 2008 and 2011. In 2012, the the PMC hopes to surpass that number, and DuVine is here to help. Not only will DuVine be organizing a fundraising and riding team to participate in the event, but we have also joined forces with the PMC as one of its official sponsors for 2012, contributing $50,000 to the cause. And, this May, the PMC and DuVine are joining together for a bike tour in Piedmont. Join us!

On Monday, February 13, Billy Starr stopped by to meet the DuVine staff and share with us his story.
