The Château de Gilly, historical residence of the Abbés de Cîteaux, is located near to Clos Vougeot. It has lost none of its authenticity, with its moats, its French-style gardens and magnificent vaulted dining room.

Considered by some an obligatory stop on their tour of Burgundy's vineyards, this château, 3 km (2 mi) from Vougeot boasts guest rooms with magnificent beamed ceilings and lovely views. Formerly an abbey and a government-run avant-garde theater, the château does show some glorious vestiges of its historic past - painted ceilings, a gigantic vaulted crypt-cellar (now the dining room) and suits of armor. In addition to the delicious food served at the restaurant, the menu also includes pastries made with Cîteaux's famous handmade cheese.

Beaune, the heart of Burgundy's wine region, is one of France's most interesting cities: its famous basilica, hospice, bell tower, and ramparts are part of its heritage as, indeed, is Hôtel Le Cep in the town centre. Once a private residence, it features a magnificent tower and a most beautiful stone staircase.

An ancient artesian well and Renaissance medallions sculpted into rock can be found in the hotel square. Two classified historical courtyards and a garden provide a sanctuary of privacy within the hotel's urban environment. The corridors and lounges are lavishly furnished with beautiful antiques.
