TAKING THE TRAIN
At the station, you must electronically stamp your ticket in an orange pedestal located where you proceed to the quay or platform. Since there is often no conductor verifying your ticket once you are aboard, this is a form of honor system with potential penalties if a conductor or controller later discovers you are not respecting it.

Each TGV car in numbered at the door, and each seat is numbered. The upcoming stop and time until you reach it is announced on the train, but it’s a good idea to know the stop ahead of yours, especially if significant luggage, children, or agility is involved.

Give yourself some time, especially when traveling with children and luggage; sometimes the main stations are vast, with trains leaving on widely separated tracks, or, in smaller stations, from platforms requiring the negotiation of stairways.

Once aboard, if your luggage is too large to fit overhead, you can store it in the common space located in each car of the train (just be sure to keep an eye on it at the stops along the way). Then settle in with a glass of wine and a fresh baguette and watch the beautiful countryside roll by as you’re whisked away to your destination.

FROM PARIS TO YOUR DESTINATION

You can purchase tickets from any train station in France . In the larger stations, the reservation counters are located away from the main departure area. Many stations are equipped with automatic ticket machines, from which you may purchase tickets and reservation coupons for travel in France and for principal cross-border routes. The machines accept cash and credit or debit cards with your PIN.

Both Roissy-Charles de Gaulle and Orly Airports have ticket desks, where it's possible to obtain schedule information and purchase tickets. Reserving Your Seat On The Train
Reservations are required for all TGV departures and are included in the ticket price. For all other rail service, reservations are not mandatory; however, you may want to pay the extra reservation charge simply for peace of mind in knowing that you have a guaranteed seat.  On TGV trains, seat reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance until just minutes prior to boarding.  Your seat reservation will usually appear as a separate coupon along with your actual train ticket. It will specify the train number, the coach number, class of travel and seat number.
