Helpful Travel Information for Ireland

Your DuVine Tour begins in Galway city where your guides will pick you up from either downtown, the Meyrick Hotel or the G Hotel around 12 noon. After the tour, your guides will drop you off at about 12 noon back in Galway.  Galway is “Ireland’s cultural heart”, a small city with lots of museums, cafes & shops.  As there is a lot to see and do in Galway, we suggest to arrive one day prior your tour to enjoy the city. Getting to Galway
Galway has a small airport with continental connections (via Dublin).  Many guests fly to Shannon, which serves international flights and is about 1hr 15min drive to Galway.  Guests who want to see more of Ireland generally fly into Dublin and drive to Galway: Dublin is connected to Galway by a new motorway, the M4 which is approx a 2hr 45min drive.

Shannon Airport is the third busiest airport of Ireland after Dublin and Cork.

How to get to Shannon Airport
You can get off-peak cheap flights on Aer Arann, Galway to Dublin or to Luton, UK and/or Aer Lingus from Shannon to London, you can book flights via our Air Consolidator link located on our website under Planning your Trip / Getting There.

By Car: Shannon Airport is located approximately 24 km from Limerick, 22 km from Ennis, and about 90 km from Galway.
A taxi ride from Shannon airport to Galway would cost approximately 120 Euros. The taxi counter is located in the Arrivals hall.
If you prefer to rent a car, you can find the following car rental companies’ counters at the Arrivals hall: Avis, Budget, Dollar Thrifty, Dooley Car Rentals, Europcar, Hertz, Irish Car Rentals and National. You can also reserve a rental car using our Rental Car Consolidator.

By Bus: Bus Eireann provide connections to and from all of Ireland’s major cities.

Citylink provides a convenient service between Shannon Airport and Galway City: the transfer is approx 1hr 15min and most people opt to take the coach transfer, which can be booked in advance via www.citylink.ie.

How to get to Dublin Airport
The best way to travel between Galway to Dublin is by train. By Train: By Train: Tickets can be booked in advance, online at www.irishrail.ie.We suggest booking a train after 12pm on Friday. If you would like to take a later train, there is baggage storage for a small fee at the train station (at the end of the platform).
 

By Car: Located near the interchange between the M50 and the M1, signposted from Dublin City and locally. Car Rental Companies stands are located at the Arrivals Hall in the Main Terminal and are open between 6.00 a.m. and 11.00 p.m. You can also reserve a rental car using our Rental Car Consolidator.
