Quebec Bike Tour

In Charlevoix, mountain and sea combine to form a setting that can only be described as spellbinding. A succession of capes and outcroppings flank the coast like so many sentinels guarding the river. Villages nestle cosily at the foot of the mountains or in peaceful coves. Beyond the road, fertile fields are interspersed with stunning glimpses of the backcountry peaks. For generations, artists have sought to express the unique mixture of serenity and grandeur that characterizes the terrain. A resort destination par excellence, the Charlevoix region combines year-round quality accommodations with an unusual range of outdoor activities. Combined with Quebec City, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is the closest you can feel to Europe in North America. Join DuVine Adventures on a multi-sport adventure in historic and welcoming Quebec.

Day One:
Welcome to Quebec City and Vieux Quebec! This famous walled city is a beautiful start to your adventure.  We will rendezvous with you at the airport, train station or hotel, and provide a two hour transfer to scenic Baie St. Paul - an artist’s paradise first opened to settlers in 1678. We will explore the artists’ village and enjoy lunch.  After lunch we will transfer by ferry to Ile aux Coudre, L’Isle-aux-Coudres is a magnificent paradise on earth and a splendid family destination. The Island contains an abundance of activities to correspond everyone’s tastes. From nature and outdoor lovers to history enthusiasts, this website will assist you in discovering the irresistible journey the Island may offer you. Either your visit is by bicycle, by car or by feet; you will be charmed by the overwhelming scenery of L’Isle-aux-Coudres. And while there, make sure you meet its friendly inhabitants who will be thrilled to share their heritage with you.  This area is renowned as a cyclist’s paradise. After our bike fitting, safety talk and route review, we will start our cycling with a 23 KM ride.

After our first exciting ride of the trip, we will again board the ferry and transfer to our home for the next two nights, La Pinsonniere. This spectacular property, a Relais & Chateaux, offers only 18 rooms. Under one roof, you can enjoy the personalized service of a charming inn as well as all the conveniences of a major hotel. This evening we will be welcomed by the Chef and his local and authentic cuisine.

Day Two:
After a sumptuous breakfast we will transfer to St. Aimee des Lacs to begin our cycling.   We will have two options, including a longer option of 46KM to Parc les Hautes Gorges de La Malbaie. Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie was named after a series of valleys cut deep into a range of high mountains. They are the highest rock faces east of the Rockies! Steep slopes, beautiful natural surroundings, and the unusual course of Rivière Malbaie make this an exceptional site. Come and take a voyage into the heart of the Land of Menaud, where time stops but the spectacle goes on and on. This national park has the privilege of being one of the core zones of the Charlevoix World Biosphere Reserve.  Ride along the spectacular lake side path with views of 1000 ft sheer cliffs.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park featuring local bread and artisanal cheeses.   After lunch, continue to ride in the park or take a boat cruise.   The choice is yours!   Late afternoon we will transfer back to the hotel with time to rest before dinner in a local bistro.

Day Three:
Our last day in Charlevoix, this morning we transfer to Cap Tourmente – a Natural Wildlife and Bird watching area. It’s a staging area for one-of-a-kind Greater Snow Geese, which flock there by the thousands every spring and fall. From here we will ride la Route Verte into Old Quebec, a 55 KM ride.   This ‘Green Way’ along the St. Lawrence River will take us to Montmorency Falls Park.  The Montmorency Falls are the highest in the Province of Quebec and are 98 feet higher than Niagara Falls. There are staircases that allow visitors to view the falls from several different perspectives as well as a suspension bridge.  We will take the cable car to the top for lunch at the Kent Street Bistro.

After ample time to discover the Falls, elect to cycle into Vieux Quebec or transfer in the van. Arrive at our home for the next night, the exquisite Auberge Sainte Antoine.  This hotel has won many awards, including top hotel in Canada.  Its unbeatable location in the Old Port has the St. Lawrence River at your footsteps as well as boutiques and bistro’s galore. Tonight we will share our memories of the past days with a farewell feast at Panache in the hotel.

Day Four:
After a ride in the old city with a stop at Battlefields National Historic Site, return for breakfast and time to change before departure. Your guides will then bring you to the train station and see you off as you head to your next destination.
