BURGUNDY SELF-GUIDED BICYCLE VACATION ITINERARY Day 1 Arrival in Dijon, accessible by train from Paris in less than two hours. Today you can explore the old city; Sainte Benigne’s Cathedral and the beautiful Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, which is home to the art museum. Your hotel, Sofitel La Cloche, a traditional French Chateau is conveniently located in the center of the city. At 6pm a DuVine guide will meet you at your hotel to share details about Dijon, Burgundy and your cycling adventure. At this time, your guide will supply your bikes and maps for the remainder of your journey. Enjoy dinner in Dijon on your own.
Points of interest in Dijon: *Ducal Palace (Palais Ducal), a beautiful building, home to a museum containing priceless treasures and spectacular art that once was the property of the Dukes of Burgundy. *Musée des Beaux-Arts, located in the Palais Ducal. It features a permanent exhibition of medieval art. *Cathedrale Sainte Begnine: built from the 13C to the 14C. *Musée Magnin, housed in the Hôtel Lantin, one of the most beautiful 17C town houses in Dijon.
Day 2 Start pedaling and head for Vougeot, in the heart of Côte de Nuits vineyards! Along the way, you will pass through several wine villages, such as Gevrey Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny among others. After cycling this famous route, arrive at Chateau de Gilly, historical residence of the Abbés de Cîteaux which is now a delightful hotel. This evening enjoy a gastronomic dinner. Distance: 35 km route.
Points of interest in Cote de Nuits: *Clos Vougeot, one of the largest single vineyards in Burgundy producing Grand Cru wines. *Medieval castle in Gevrey Chambertin. *Cotes de Nuits vineyards. Day 3 Enjoy a loop ride around Vougeot. You will first go to Nuits Saint Georges, the genuine Place Vendome of Côte de Nuits with its picturesque streets around the belfry. At your leisure, head East towards Saint-Nicolas-les-Citeaux, riding alongside the forest to the beautiful Abbaye de Citeaux. When your explorations are done foor the day, return the Chateau de Gilly for another night and enjoy dinner on your own. Distance: 35 km route.

Day 4 Departing from Vougeot, you will ride to Beaune through the vineyards of Côtes de Beaune. Beaune, famous for its Hospices was founded in 1442 by Nicolas Rolin, Chancellor of the Duke of Burgundy, and his wife. The Hospices are a charity operating hospitals and other services for those in need. They also own vineyards in Burgundy, financed from past donations. Enjoy the next two nights in Hotel Le Cep, once a private residence, it features a magnificent tower and a most beautiful stone staircase. An ancient artesian well and Renaissance medallions sculpted into rock can be found in the hotel square. Two classified historical courtyards and a garden provide a sanctuary of privacy within the hotel's urban centrally located hotel. Enjoy dinner on your own in Beaune this evening. Distance: 35 km

Day 5 Today a scenic ride will take you to Meursault through the vineyards of Côtes de Beaune and near the forest. You will cycle through the Cotes de Beaune area, south of the city, and visit the wine villages of Pommard, Santenay, Chassagne & Puligny, Montrachet and Meursault among others. Indulge all of your tastebuds today. Enjoy another night at the famous Hotel Le Cep and dinner on your own in Beaune this evening. Distance: 30 km route.
Points of interest around Mersault: *?Saint Jean de Narosse Church in Santenay, built in the 13th century. *Château de Pommard, one of the largest private wine estates in Burgundy. *Moulin de Sorine in Santenay. *Côte de Beaune vineyards.
Day 6 Time to bid adieu to the Burgundy wine region. Climb high on an optional loop ride above Pernand-Vergelesses for an eye-popping view of the vineyards and villages below. Choose to finish your shopping in Beaune or enjoy a final coffee at a café on Place Carnot before you head on to your next destination.
