Tour by Day

Day One: Welcome to the Western Cape
Your guides will meet you at the Cape Town International Airport and ferry you to the beautiful Cape wine lands, close to the town of Stellenbosch. Settle in at the hotel before a trip briefing and quick bike set-up. Afterwards, enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch in the garden followed by a bike ride to the Jonkershoek Nature Reserve. Pedal over gentle hills and past vineyards up into the Jonkershoek Valley. Dine tonight at the hotel and raise your glasses to the wonderful adventure to come.

Day Two: Stellenbosch Wine Country
Cycle through Stellenbosch today, arriving at Martin Meinert Farm to sample their wines and enjoy the view of False Bay. We’ll then ride to Waterford Estate for a visit of their spectacular grounds. Marvel at the serene atmosphere, personal care, and award-winning wines on offer. We’ll indulge in a paired wine and chocolate tasting, featuring custom-made confections. Then, cycle back to the hotel or take a ride in the van. Explore wonderful Stellenbosch this afternoon before we join for an intimate dinner at De Volkskombuis restaurant in Stellenbosch to enjoy the variety of tastes the Cape has to offer.

Day Three: A Local Experience in Elgin
Begin the day with a quick transfer to Elgin, the apple growing capital of South Africa. Along the ride, enjoy the spectacular views over False Bay and the surrounding Hottentots Holland Mountains via Sir Lowry's Pass. Upon arrival in Elgin, we'll start cycling on quiet country roads past orchards, over the Vijoens Pass, and ride along the Theewaterskloof Dam to Villersdorp. Here, we'll stop for an unforgettable lunch hosted by our friends Peter and Paddy. After lunch, opt to continue riding up the Franschhoek Pass back to the hotel, or return via shuttle. Tonight we’ll head to Le Quartier Francais for dinner.

Day Four: En Français in Franschoek
If you are up for the challenge, you have the opportunity to cycle up the Franschoek Pass before breakfast. The pass offers dramatic views over the Franschhoek Valley.
After breakfast, we’ll bike through the Franschhoek region on quiet country roads to Môreson Wine Estate for a fun bread baking class. Learn how to fill your own kitchen with that wonderful smell of freshly baked bread. Today’s lunch will be served with our very own creations! We’ll then ride back through town to the hotel to relax. Tonight’s dinner will be at the award-winning Ruebens Restaurant in Franschhoek, one of the foremost culinary destinations in the region.

Day Five: Off to Cape Town
Start the day with a transfer to the BoKaap neighborhood in Cape Town for a very special cooking class. Here we'll discover the secrets of mixing masala, making dahltjies (chili bites), samoosas, frying rootis, and learning the traditional way to cook a mouth-watering Cape Malay Curry. Then, sit down to enjoy the meal we've prepared with our host Zainie, who will entertain us with stories of local cuisine and her life in the region. After lunch, we''ll cycle from the Waterfront along stunning coastal routes all the way to Tintswalo. This is the very same route that 40,000 + cyclists from all over the world compete on during the Epic Cape Argus Cycle Tour. This may be the most scenic ride yet, culminating with our arrival at our last hotel, perhaps the icing on the cake!

Day Six: To the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Peninsula
Today we’ll visit the colony of African jackass penguins at Boulders Beach, then cycle to Cape Point along the famous Cape Argus Cycle Tour route and explore the spectacular Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. After lunch at a local restaurant on the Cape Peninsula, we’ll have the option to tour the area on our bikes, experiencing local Xhosa culture. Next, we’ll ride to Chapman’s Peak Drive, which winds its way between Noordhoek and Hout Bay, offering stunning views over the ocean and mountains. Tonight we’ll enjoy dinner at Pure Restaurant in Hout Bay.

Accomplished: 26 miles / 42 km (Optional 7 km extra ride)

Day Seven: Goodbye to Cape Town
If your departure schedule allows it, take an early morning bike ride along the Atlantic seaboard to Cape Town. We will then meet up with the group back at the hotel to enjoy our last breakfast at the hotel. Following breakfast, your guides will bring you to Cape Town International Airport for your flight home.
