Tour by Day

Day One: Welcome to Bordeaux
Your guides will greet you at the Bordeaux train station and whisk you away to the Graves wine region. Arrive at the stunning Sources de Caudalie Hotel where you’ll be treated to a light lunch before getting a full introduction to your bikes and the exciting itinerary for the week's cycling trip. Enjoy a nice warmup spin on this generally smooth terrain past internationally recognized châteaux and sleepy villages. Back at the hotel after your first ride, you can wander in the vineyards of the Chateau Smith Haut Lafite, enjoy the pool or just relax in your luxurious accommodations. Our meal at the casual bistro at the hotel will set the tone for a fun and exciting week!

Day Two: Through the Entre Deux Mers to St. Emilion
After a scrumptious breakfast, we’ll wind our way through the villages and vineyards of the Paysage Bordelais up to the banks of the Garonne River where we’ll cross over into the Entre-Deux-Mers region.  Here we’ll enjoy some excellent riding along rolling hills and a tranquil bike path all the way to the Dordogne River. Your day of cycling will be more than rewarded when you arrive at our Hotel Château Grand Barrail in the famous vineyards right outside of the beautiful village of St. Emilion, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This evening enjoy a lovely dinner at the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant.

Day Three: Exploring Pomerol and St. Emilion
Explore the château’s picturesque grounds this morning before we set off on our ride through the highly regarded vineyards of the region. We’ll cycle past and admire some of the most important estates in Pomerol and St. Emilion: Cheval Blanc, Château Figeac, Petrus, Angelus, and more. In the afternoon we’ll develop our inner sommeliers with lunch and an instructive wine tasting at the Château de Candale. Cycle back to town to spend the day shopping, go for an extra ride, or return to the hotel and spa. Tonight is yours to choose where to dine at any of the outstanding St. Emilion restaurants.

Day Four: Crossing the Gironde Estuary
Today you have the option of riding all the way to the next hotel or transferring for a shorter easier ride.  We’ll wind our way this morning through the villages that dot the banks of the Gironde estuary. After passing the little-known wine regions of Bourg and Blaye, we’ll pause for lunch within the ramparts of the UNESCO Blaye Citadel before boarding a ferry to cross the Gironde. Arriving in the cradle of Cabernet Sauvignon in the Médoc, we’ll continue biking to the luxurious Cordeillan Bages Estate. Enjoy a wine tasting at the famous Lynch Bages winery after a comprehensive visit to their historic cellars. Dinner tonight is at the brasserie in the old town of Bages, a short walk from the hotel.

Day Five: Estèphe Loop Ride
Our route this morning leads us to Saint Estèphe past some of the most revered estates in Bordeaux: Châteaux Mouton Rothschild, Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Latour and more. Depending on the season we’ll visit one of the top-rated estates of the region and discover why these wines taste so amazing. Then we’ll circle back to the center of Pauillac for a delicious lunch on the port. This afternoon, either enjoy the luxurious comforts of the hotel, or stroll over to the village of Bages for some last-minute shopping for souvenirs to bring home. The night is ours to celebrate with a very special farewell dinner at the two-Michelin-starred restaurant, Cordeillan Bages, with Chef Jean-Luc Rocha. A meal to remember.  Bon appétit!

Day Six: Au Revoir
