Tour by Day

Day One: Welcome to Bordeaux
Your guides will greet you at the Libourne train station, and we’ll kick off the vacation with a visit to the city’s vibrant weekly market. After a drive into the countryside, we’ll rouse our palates with the region’s finest sparkling wine and toast our arrival at Château de Sanse in peaceful Gensac. After a bike fitting, we’ll spin alongside the Dordogne River on a ride through Pessac-sur-Dordogne. We’ll stop for a visit at our friend Robert’s traditional water mill. Then relax by the château’s pool or take in the views of the Gensac vineyards. Tonight we’ll enjoy a homemade Bordelaise dinner and wine tasting at Château Carbonneau.

Day Two: Crossing the Dordogne to St. Emilion
Start today with a long descent and cruise alongside the Dordogne River. Pass by kiwi trees and fishermen looking for a catch. Crossing the river via historic Castillon-la-Bataille, we’ll arrive at the medieval city of St. Emilion, stopping at a favorite local restaurant for a relaxed and hearty lunch. Our ride continues past famous Grand Cru Classé châteaux on our way to Château Grand Barrail where we'll develop our inner sommeliers with our Bordeaux Wines 101 school.  Tonight we will enjoy an exquisite meal and a restful sleep.

Day Three: Exploring Pomerol and St. Emilion
Explore the château’s picturesque grounds this morning before we set off on our ride through the wonderful green stretches and vineyards of the region. We’ll cycle by some of the most important estates in Pomerol and St. Emilion: Cheval Blanc, Château Figeac, Petrus, Ausone, and more. Taste the exceptional wines of Château Figeac and continue on to lunch and an instructive wine tasting at Château de Candale. Cycle back to town to spend the day shopping or return to the hotel and spa. Tonight is yours to dine at any of the outstanding St. Emilion restaurants.

Day Four: The Grand Cru Vineyards of the Médoc
We’ll wind our way this morning through the villages and vineyards of the Paysage Bordelais and down to the banks of the Dordogne and the Gironde estuary. Between the little-known wine regions of Bourg and Blaye, we’ll pause for lunch within the ramparts of a UNESCO citadel before boarding a ferry across the Gironde. Arriving in the cradle of Cabernet Sauvignon, the Médoc, we’ll bike to the luxurious Cordeillan Bages. Enjoy a wine tasting at the famous Lynch Bages winery after a comprehensive visit to their historic cellars. Dinner tonight is at the brasserie in the old town of Bages.

Day Five: Margaux Loop Ride
Our route this morning leads us past some of the most revered estates in Bordeaux: Châteaux Palmer, Margaux, Latour, Beychevelle, Pichon Longueville, and more. We’ll stop to enjoy the wines and a gourmet lunch en route. At the right time of year, witness the winemaking process in the middle of the harvest period at these gorgeous estates. After lunch, enjoy a delicious tasting at Château Pichon Longueville. This afternoon, either enjoy the luxurious comforts of the hotel, or finish the day with one last loop ride into Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe, passing by more grand chateaux, including Mouton Rothschild, Laffite, and Cos D’Estournel. The night is yours to celebrate with a very special farewell dinner at the two-Michelin-starred restaurant, Cordeillan Bages, with Chef Jean-Luc Rocha. Bon appétit!
