Tour by Day

Day One: Welcome to Puglia!
Your guides will meet you at the Brindisi airport, and then we’re off to start our Puglia tour in the lovely seaside village of Otranto. Enjoy a welcome prosecco while reviewing the basics: bike fitting and safety talk. Then we’ll set off on our first ride from the coast through a sea of olives trees. You’ll soon realize why Puglia is the biggest olive producing region in Italy as you cycle through this landscape devoted to the olive. Stop at a local cantina for a wine tasting before we loop back into Otranto. Tonight our chef Pasquale will delight us with his original dishes.

Meals: Light Lunch / Dinner
Destinations: Otranto
Accomplished: 13 miles / 21 km
Accommodations: Hotel Palazzo Papaleo

Day Two: Coast Ride to Leuca
Today we’ll cycle one of the most stunning coastal roads with breathtaking views of cliffs and bays. Pass through fishing villages like Porto Badisco and Santa Cesarea Terme. Stop for a seafood lunch at our friend’s restaurant overlooking the cerulean sea. After lunch, opt for a longer ride to Leuca—named Leukos (white) by Greek sailors for its bright sunlit cliffs and after the siren, Leucasia, who found peace on its reef. From Leuca you can transfer back to the hotel or continue cycling for an epic total of 106 kilometers. Enjoy a walking tour of historic Otranto before selecting a spot for dinner on your own this evening.

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch
Destinations: Santa Casarea Terme, Castro, Santa Maria di Leuca
Accomplished: 20 miles / 32.5 km (Longer option: 30 miles / 48.5 km; or epic 66 mile / 106.5 km ride)
Accommodations: Hotel Palazzo Papaleo

Day Three: Locorotondo and the Itria Valley
This morning we’ll transfer to the stunning Itria Valley for a tour and tasting at a Pugliese olive mill, where we’ll learn all about the different olive varieties unique to this region. Continue on to Locorotondo, the picturesque village known for its maze of white-washed streets and considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Stop for lunch at our friend Franco’s local trattoria. Then ride through the rolling hills and stunning green countryside to our hotel. Spend the afternoon by the pool or exploring Martina Franca’s historic streets before enjoying a dinner of local specialties at our hotel’s restaurant.

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Destinations: Cisternino, Locorotondo, Itria Valley
Accomplished: 20 miles / 32.5 km (Longer Option: 32 miles / 51.5 km)

Day Four: The Route to Alberobello
Begin the day with a ride along quiet stonewalled lanes through pastures, vineyards, and the greatest concentration of Puglia’s trulli on your way to Alberobello. Here, our friend Mimmo will show us around his town before inviting us to a home-cooked lunch in his trullo. After lunch, opt for a transfer to our hotel or cycle there through peaceful villages, enjoying spectacular views of the coast from the edge of the Itrian plateau. Torre Maizza, our final hotel, was once a fortified estate or masseria and has been transformed into a 5-star luxury hotel with a stunning pool and sleek Aveda spa. Tonight we’ll be treated to a private cooking class with Maizza’s award-winning chef.

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Destinations: Alberobello, Fasano, Itrian plateau
Accomplished: 17 miles / 27.5 km (Longer option: 30 miles / 48.5 km)
Accommodations: Masseria Torre Maizza / Masseria Torre Coccaro

Day Five: The Canali Loop
Cycle along the coast past the ancient ruins of Egnazia and the quaint fishing villages of Savelletri and Torre Canne. Turning inland, we’ll explore the tiny roads (canali) that wind through endless olive groves. Climb and be rewarded with a stunning view of this colorful canvas: the bright blue Adriatic set against the rich browns and vibrant olive greens. Continue downhill to our friends', Laura and Filippo, beautiful masseria where we’ll stop for lunch. Choose between a ride to the white city of Ostuni or a spin back to the hotel. This evening we'll celebrate this amazing region with an unforgettable traditional dinner at our favorite local farmhouse.

Day Six: Goodbye to Puglia
After breakfast on the terrace, enjoy a stroll on the grounds of Torre Maizza or take a morning dip in the pool lined with Roman columns. Your guides will then transfer you back to Brindisi as you head on to your next destination.
