Cycle along the historic Camino de Santiago (also called St. James Way), and traverse the rolling green Galician countryside. Challenge yourself on the infamous climb up to the Cruz de Ferro in the hillsides of Castilla y León. Enjoy a tasting of wine from the Bierzo region. Tour by Day

Day One: Welcome to the Camino!
Your guides will meet you at your hotel in Madrid and we’re off to León. Stop for a quick visit in Segovia, before we arrive in in the small city of León and our hotel, the Parador San Marcos. Upon arrival, we’ll cover the basics: bike fitting, safety review, and a welcome cocktail. Enjoy a walk through the Parador´s Museum, followed by a guided tour of historic León and the Gothic Cathedral. After, we’ll head to Albergue to get our Pilgrim Passports and then cycle back through the narrow, winding streets of Leon to the Parador. Tonight, we’ll dine at the hotel's restaurant.

Day Two: León to Villafranca del Bierzo
This morning we’ll transfer by van to the quaint town of Castrillo de Polvazares. Here, we’ll hop on our bikes for the famous climb up to the Cruz de Ferro along the green hillsides of Castilla y León. Pass through the unique, one-man town of Manjarín, and enjoy a thrilling descent into the town below. Lunch is a relaxing stop along the river followed by a visit to a small hermitage tucked atop a hill. In Camponaraya, enjoy a tasting of wine from the Bierzo region. Continue by van to the Palacio de Canedo for dinner surrounded by beautiful views of the mountains and the vineyards.

Day Three: The Hillsides of Galicia
Transfer to Galicia with a brief stop in the Celtic town of O´Cebreiro. After, we’ll hop on our bikes and begin our hilly ride. Along the way we'll pass by monasteries, cross over rivers, and wind through the lush countryside. Enjoy lunch in a small restaurant in Sarria, and then continue on a zig-zagging ride through the hillsides of Galicia. Descend into the town of Portomarín, where we will spend the night in the Pousada de Portomarín. Tonight, delight in a delicious meal prepared fresh from the gardens at the Santa Mariña country house and be treated to a Queimada, a traditional beverage and Galician ritual.

Day Four: Hidden Roads to Castelo do Pambre
Start your day on the bike with an 8 mile climb. Delight in views of the villages, farms, and fields as you climb. After Palas de Rei, we'll veer off the Camino for a side trip along scenic back roads that wind through woods to reveal the Castelo do Pambre, a 14th century castle undiscovered by most. We’ll stop here for a picnic lunch, followed by a ride along more hidden roads to the town of Melide. Continue to our hotel in Arzúa. Tonight we’ll be treated to quiet and relaxed dinner here at the Pazo Santa María, an 18th century noble house.

Day Five: The Ride to Santiago de Compostela
Today we’re off to Santiago de Compostela! Our bike ride crosses over several rivers and winds through multiple towns to our last big ascent. At the top, we’ll be rewarded by stunning views overlooking Santiago and the towers of the Cathedral. Cycle down into the city, passing through the urban streets of Santiago to finally arrive at the cathedral. This afternoon, take some time to explore the city or enjoy a swim in the pool. Tonight we’ll meet up for a memorable farewell dinner at the Hotel Monumento San Francisco.
