Day One: Welcome to Catalonia
Your DuVine guides will greet you at the Vilafant train station and drive you to the nearby city center of Figueras for a guided visit of the intriguing Salvador Dalí museum. A short stroll takes us to our favorite tapas bar for some bite-sized pintxos such as marinated anchovies and spicy patatas bravas. Our first ride after lunch finds us spinning along quiet tree-lined country roads and over the gently rolling hills that form the base of the Pyrenees. This evening will be an introduction to the region’s authentic flavors with a tasting of Catalonian wines and some local specialties at our hotel’s acclaimed restaurant.

Our journey takes us through Ullastret, noted for its sixth-century BCE Iberian settlement, before stopping in the pretty village of Palau-Sator. Lunch will be prepared for us by chef Toni and his wife Silvia in the tree-shaded garden of their delightful local eatery specializing in traditional Catalan cuisine. Then a short spin takes us to our luxury hotel, Mas de Torrent, where you will have time to relax at the hotel pool or experience the fabulous spa facilities. This morning, we ride into the cultural heartland of Catalonia, to discover some of the charming medieval villages that pepper the lands between Girona and the coast. We’ll spin through Pals and the paddy fields around it that produce round bomba rice for rich soupy Catalonian-style paella. Passing through the pottery town of La Bisbal, we arrive at the Can Solivera olive oil farm. After our visit, your guides will spoil you with one of our famous gourmet DuVine picnics. This evening, we drive to one of the most exclusive wineries of the Baix Emporda for a visit, followed by an organic lamb and vegetable dinner, prepared for us by Pepi from the masía terrace.

At the port, we hop onto a luxury schooner for a sail along the coast and a picnic lunch on the waves. We’ll drop anchor along the way for a swim and some snorkeling before returning to our home for the next two nights, La Malcontenta. Relax at the pool or arrange a well-deserved massage. Tonight we transfer back to Palamos for dinner at your leisure, or follow your guides to our favorite seafood restaurant in town.

We then continue our journey following quiet back roads to the medieval town of Begur for a coffee stop before making the winding descent to the small fishermen’s village of Sa Tuna. Enjoy a paella lunch on the terrace and a refreshing dip in the crystalline waters before returning to the hotel. Tonight we celebrate the end of our week in customary DuVine style, at the Michelin-starred Casamar restaurant in nearby Llafranc.
