Tour by Day
Day One: Welcome to the Vuelta a España
Your guides will meet you in historic Bilbao and our Vuelta adventure begins. We’ll transfer to the charming town of Santillana del Mar in the Cantabria region, where we’ll base ourselves for two nights. After a welcome toast and a bike fitting on our Cannondale SuperSixes we’ll take off on our first ride, a 40-kilometer loop to warm up our legs for the challenging week ahead. Stunning vistas will greet us as we wind our way along the coast. Relax and settle in before we celebrate our arrival with a typical Cantabrian meal tonight at our hotel.

Day Two: Into the Mountains of Green Spain
Today is our first major ride of the week, an unforgettable 95-kilometer route into the famous mountains of Green Spain. Take in their stunning views at every turn while conquering the challenging climbs that are sure to test our legs. Our ride will take us from Santillana del Mar to the national park of Macizo de Peña Cabarga, the site of today’s Vuelta stage finish. We’ll arrive at the finish line ahead of the peloton to catch the exciting finish and enjoy unrestricted VIP-access to the race village at the summit. Enjoy a Spanish dinner on your own this evening, your guides will glad to point you to the local eateries.

Day Three: The Road to Colunga
Ride today to the beautiful town of San Vicente de la Barquera to preview the start of stage 19. We’ll roll out before the peloton in order to get the full race experience along the same coastal route as the Vuelta. Reaching Colunga, we’ll enjoy the passing rush of the race at top speed before transferring to our hotel outside Oviedo, where a full-service spa awaits if you want to restore your muscles with a rejuvenating massage. We’ll refuel tonight with another outstanding Spanish meal.

Day Four: The Queen Stage
On deck today for both the racers and us is one of the most feared climbs in all of cycling: the Angliru. At 23 kilometers, with pitches over 18%, it is a challenge worth meeting. From it’s towering summit we’ll watch the exciting stage finish, which could decide the final outcome of the race. We’ll then transfer to our hotel in the beautiful town of Leon to rest and relax. Enjoy a tour of the old city, which boasts impressive frescoes and Gothic architecture. Leon is also a stop on the famous pilgrimage route, the Camino de Santiago. Tonight we’ll enjoy an outstanding meal in this historic city.

Day Five: The Finish Line
Today is the final day of la Vuelta, and we have arranged VIP-access for premium viewing at the finish line in Madrid. We’ll shake out our legs after yesterday’s climb with an early-morning loop ride from Leon before transferring to the finish line in Madrid. Cheer from front-row seats as the racers tear across the line in one last sprint. The race over, we’ll celebrate an unforgettable week at a local favorite restaurant in Madrid with a delicious final meal and a flamenco show.

Day Six: Adios España
