Zion Bicycle Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Bike Zion’s Kolob Canyons Area
Your guides will greet you at your hotel and promptly shuttle you from Las Vegas to Springdale, Utah, gateway to the Zion National Park, cut through the reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone by the North Fork of the Virgin River. We’ll begin with a toast to a week of stunning scenery and great riding!  After lunch, your guides will fit you to your bike, get you oriented, and take you for a spin along the lightly-trafficked Kolob Reservoir Road past stunning vistas that most visitors to Zion National Park never see. It offers great views of distant cliffs and valleys, follows along narrow canyons, and varied landscapes reflecting the wide elevation range of 3,550 to 7,890 feet. The road passes close to Lava Point, the highest summit in the park except for two peaks in the far northwest region, and affords exceptional, near 360° views of the whole park.  Return to your luxurious hotel, the Desert Pearl Inn, with the best location on the edge of the park for some R&R before regrouping for dinner out on the town.  Tonight you’ll enjoy your first meal together with the group at one of Springdale’s best restaurants.

Meals: Lunch & Dinner
Distance cycled: 23 miles (500 ft gain)

Day 2: Hike the Narrows & Emerald Pools, Bike the Valley Floor
Today you’ll enter the heart of Zion – the majestic valley where a truly surreal hiking experience awaits you. On the Narrows hike you’ll have the chance to hike up the Virgin River through its cool waters as you wind along through the canyon on one of the world’s best canyon hikes.  Extraordinary beauty and unique character describe this amazing gorge. Hanging gardens burst from dramatically colored perpendicular walls while trickling water threads its way through moss covered boulders.  It is pure fun and can be tailored to suite any ability level, though you will be spending 60% of the hike in the water.  Rest assured, we will supply you with specially designed boots for hiking in comfort in the water. Our destination on this hike is the narrowest part of the canyon – “Wall Street” – where the sheer cliff faces soar straight up above your head for hundreds of feet. Later you’ll have the chance to ride the virtually car-free and scenic Floor of the Valley Road and hike to Zion’s three Emerald Pools. Return to the Desert Pearl and go for a swim in the pool or relax in your room. Tonight you’re free to try one of Zion’s many delicious restaurants.

This morning you’ll have the chance to hike up to Scout Lookout for an amazing view of the canyon. Those up for the challenge of a more technical trail can continue another half mile out to the park’s iconic Angels Landing. At 5,790 ft, the mountain outcropping soars almost 2,000 ft above the valley floor and offers a sweeping panoramic view of the park. The Angels Landing Trail is one of the most famous and thrilling hikes in the national park system. Zion's pride and joy runs along a narrow rock fin with steep drop-offs on both sides.  We’ll enjoy a picnic lunch and then shuttle you out to the East Entrance of the Park where you can ride your bike enjoying the long gradual descent past brilliant geological formations – including the distinctive Checkerboard Mesa – and back into the valley. If you want more distance and climbing, you can pedal out and back. At the end of all the active fun we’ll shuttle to St George and our next hotel, the scenic Inn at Entrada. This evening you’ll enjoy a fine dining experience at one of the best restaurants in the region.

After the post-ride breakfast and more time to relax your guide will then accompany you back to Las Vegas.
