Salta Bike Tour Itinerary

Day One: Salta | Quebrada de las Conchas | Cafayate  
Today will begin with your arrival to the city of Salta and transfer to Finca Valentina for a short lunch break before departure to the semi deserted Calchaquí Valley and the Quebrada de las Conchas. Our local guide will be at the gorge waiting to take us into the canyon on an amazing bike ride inside the mountains up to la Yesera Pass, the most colorful spot in the area. Later we will continue our trip to Cafayate and spend the evening at Patios de Cafayate Wine & Spa.

Day two: Cafayate | San Pedro de Yacochuya | Quebrada de las Flechas | Colomé 
Get ready for a full day of wine and adventure. In the morning we will begin with a bike ride around town visiting the boutique wineries of Cafayate. We will be treated to lunch in San Pedro de Yacochuya winery with the Etchart Family. After lunch we will take a scenic drive though Quebrada de las Flechas passing by the little village of Angastaco. A winding road will take us to Estancia Colomé, the oldest winery of South America. Since 1831 the wines of Colomé have been a treasure of the Calchaqui Valleys, only becoming famous after Mr. Hess bought the lands a few years ago. Here we will visit the James Turrell Museum at sunset and spend the night in the Historical Boutique Hotel, Hacienda de Molinos.

Day three: Colomé | Finca Tacuil | Colomé
We will begin today with a short downhill bike ride and then continue uphill from the old colonial Village of Molinos to visit Tacuil, a little winery that was conserved by the Dávalos family to produce the unique family wines made with the fruit of the highest vineyards in the world. Here you will spend lunch with the Dávalos Family and enjoy a wine tasting. In the afternoon, we will drive to Cachi Village and spend the night at La Merced del Alto just under the Nevado de Cachi Peak (6.400 mts).

Day four: Colomé | Cuevas de Acsibi | Colomé 
Today we will visit the little town of Seclantás in the heart of the Valley. We will stop for a visit to Finca Montenieva, which belongs to the traditional Aban family. Here they will  receive us in their home to tell us their story and the story of those who inhabited the valley even before the Inca occupation. The land surrounding the area was once part of the Inca Trail and home of the Malcachiscos, who fought bravely against the Spanish conquerors. In the morning we will drive to Valle de las Cuevas and start a four hour hike among the most spectacular shaped rocks of an intense red color. We will stop for picnic along the way. Tonight we will return to Cachi for the evening.

Day five: Colomé | Parque Nacional Los Cardones | Payogasta | La Paya | Cachi
The landscapes of the Calchaquí Valleys are surprisingly diverse and colorful. Today we will visit the “Camino de los Artesanos”, a narrow mountain road where we can find the most important handcraft makers of the Northwest and get to know more about the art of weaving by hand. In this land of “criollos” and “gauchos”, the sons of natives and immigrants still preserve the culture and the ancient weaving techniques to make the most beautiful handmade cloths. Then, we will have an amazing mountain ride in a little red desert called Los Colorados inside “Los Cardones National Park”, known for the famous huge species of cactus called “Cardón” surrounded by the highest peaks of the Valley, such as Nevado de Cachi (6300 mts). Homemade lunch in Casa de Campo La Paya in the Finca of the Ruiz Moreno Family, a special place to enjoy the good company and the authentic taste of the Saltenean dishes and traditions. We will spend the night again in La Merced del Alto Cachi.

Day six: Cachi| Cuesta del Obispo | Salta 
Today we return to Salta through Cuesta del Obispo reaching the highest Andean pass of our trip at 3348 mts above sea level at Piedra del Molino, touching the clouds. Along 33 km of mountain road downhill we will reach the green fields of the Lerma Valley with tobacco plantations in the rural towns that surround the city of Salta, "the beautiful".  We will arrive to Finca Valentina in the afternoon where you will be treated to some stunning views of the Andes and will celebrate the evening with a special goodbye dinner.

Day seven: Salta | City walk
Before your departure today, you will be treated to a walking tour of the city of Salta with visit to the MAAM (Museum of High Altitude Archeology) to find out more about the High Altitude Sanctuaries of the Andes and the Inca footprint in Salta. We will return to Finca Valentina for a lunch before your transfer to the airport.
