Chris was born and raised in southeastern Connecticut. Since he could walk, he has been exploring the world in some form or fashion, whether through athletic pursuits, traditional travel, or do-it-yourself expeditions. His diverse background includes degrees in neuroscience, art, and journalism, and roles as varied as COO, photographer, and creative director. In 2012, Chris became the managing editor of VeloNews magazine, a position he held for nearly eight years. His cycling pursuits have taken him around the world to race on the road, mountain, and in cyclocross, to places like Taiwan, Costa Rica, Israel, and throughout Europe. Chris is the author of The Haywire Heart, a groundbreaking and critically important guide to heart care for athletes, and the first book to delve into the relationship between long-term endurance athletics and heart health. He is also a cofounder of Fast Talk Labs, a sport science knowledgebase and virtual training center.
