Born in Czechoslovakia during the communist regime, Martin has early childhood memories of those times behind the Iron Curtain. He was also born and raised in the town of world-famous Pilsner Urquell beer—Pilsen—so when it comes to beer and history, Martin is eager to provide DuViners with his insider’s view. He studied social sciences at West Bohemia University and achieved a Masters in English and French language and literature. His studies enabled him to attend lectures and live for a year in Paris, and he loves Francophonie. Instead of becoming a school teacher, Martin spends his winters in Southern Alberta, Canada, where he coaches and teaches skiing. In the summer, he heads back to Europe to lead Central European cycling trips. He’s been a bike guide since 2015 and is also an avid mountaineer and runner.
