  • Day 1

    Welcome to Ecuador!

    Our guides will meet you at the airport in Quito, ready to head north into the Andes and surrounding ancient volcanoes. For the rest of the day, you are encouraged to relax while your body acclimates to the altitude. This evening, enjoy an intimate first dinner in the splendor of the mountain surroundings.

  • Day 2


    After breakfast we’ll set out for a hike around Cuicocha Crater Lake. At over 3,000 meters above sea level, the Cuicocha Nature Reserve occupies the slopes of the larger Cotacachi Volcano. This ecosystem is a combination of Paramo and Andean forest, home to unique local flora such as the sacred quishuar tree and the ancient dye plant chilca. After hiking, we’ll hop on our bikes and ride to the town of Cotacachi for lunch and a stop at some of the local leather shops. After a brief rest at our hacienda, ride through picturesque villages to the town of Otavalo, home to a famous market filled with colorful textiles hand-woven by indigenous residents. Tonight we dine at the hacienda.

  • Day 3

    Zuleta Valley

    This morning we visit the village of Ilumán, a community known its population of spiritual shaman, to learn about their ancestral healing practices and traditions. Afterwards, we return to our bikes and ride through lush hills of Ugsha, on the Camuendo Peguche, and around the San Pablo del Lago on country roads. After cycling below the slopes of the Imbabura Volcano, we reach the peaceful village of Peguche with its spectacular waterfall. Lunch in Otavalo is followed by a slow ride back to the hacienda via lush pasturelands, pine trees, and eucalyptus forests. Tonight we enjoy our last dinner in the Andes before heading for the islands of the Galápagos.

  • Day 4

    Hike Frigate Hill

    Today we depart the Andes for the Galápagos Islands. Board a morning flight to one of the oldest islands in the archipelago, San Cristóbal, where we’re greeted with a welcome lunch before the adventure continues. Hike out of town to visit the Interpretation Center for a general understanding of the islands that fascinated Charles Darwin. This afternoon, explore a unique dry forest—our route leads us to Frigate Hill with spectacular views of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. You may even spot some local wildlife, with magnificent frigate birds circling the coastline and blue-footed boobies clambering on lava rocks. This evening we dine on the waterfront at our hotel.

    Kayak and Snorkel on San Cristóbal

    Today’s journey will take us to some incredible offshore snorkeling sites and the best kayaking route in the Galápagos! Paddle along the northern coast’s bays and coves, populated by marine iguanas and other endemic species. At León Dormido, Punta Pitt, or Cerro Brujo, we’ll snorkel beneath the water’s surface for a glimpse into a vibrant underwater world. Later, we return to our hotel to spend a final evening on San Cristóbal Island.

  • Day 6

    Coastal Exploration of Tintoreras and Isabela Islands

    Start with a short flight from San Cristobal to Isabela Island. We’ll head out on mountain bikes to cruise the white sand beaches, mangroves, and brackish lagoons of the coastline. This area is filled with birdlife like herons and flamingos, as well as sea lions and marine iguanas. Board a boat for the short ride to the Tintoreras, a set of small wildlife-dense islets where we’ll find the Galápagos penguin—the only kind of its species to live north of the equator. Tonight, sample island fare during a seaside dinner.

  • Day 7

    Volcano Discovery Hike in the Isabela Highlands

    From Puerto Villamil, we’ll drive into the highlands to see a world of recent geological history. Once the road ends, follow the dirt trails on foot to the rim of the Sierra Negra Volcano, which last erupted in October 2005. The rim encloses a huge lava-filled crater and peers over the Perry Isthmus Volcano and beyond. For the adventurous, the hike continues up to Volcano Chico where the earth exhales hot sulfurous gases from fumaroles and lava formations mimic a lunar landscape. Ride downhill to Campo Duro, passing coffee plantations and orange trees, then return to Puerto Villamil to relax at our beachfront hotel.

  • Day 8

    Tortuga Island Boat Trip

    The island life awaits: a scenic boat ride brings us to the small horseshoe-shaped Tortuga Island, marked by brackish lagoons and secret swimming spots. Snorkel in Loberia Grande alongside sea lions and meet Galápagos green turtles face-to-face. Thousands of seabirds nest along the island’s cliffs, bringing the landscape to life. This afternoon, we return to Isabela for lunch in town. Spend the rest of the day on an optional hike or, if you prefer, napping on the powdery beaches.

  • Day 9

    Giant Tortoises of El Chato and Divine Bay Kayaking

    Step aboard a boat bound for the Santa Cruz Islands. Upon arrival, we’ll pause for coffee while overlooking the harbor and summon our energy for a kayak tour of Divine Bay. Glide through turquoise waters that funnel through high-walled lava channels—a white-tipped shark or eagle ray may even be following just beneath the surface. After lunch, transfer to El Chato Reserve in the highlands, the natural habitat of the incredible Galápagos tortoise. We may even be joined by these lumbering giants. Our final meal together takes place at Finch Bay’s tranquil beachside restaurant.

    Adios Galápagos!

    Enjoy one final, peaceful breakfast by the sea before saying goodbye to the Galápagos. We’ll transfer to Baltra for our flight back to Quito, where our tour comes to an end.
