Tour by Day
Day One: Welcome to Andalucía
Your DuVine guides will greet you in Granada at our recommended pre-tour hotel, and then we’re off to the magnificent Hotel La Bobadilla. After a bike fitting and safety review, we’ll cycle through the olive groves to the village of Archidona. This lovely town is renowned for its urban and architectural heritage. Here we’ll sample a selection of outstanding tapas for lunch, then spin back to the hotel or hop in the van for a lift. For the remainder of the day you can relax at the pool or wonderful spa. Tonight we’ll enjoy dinner together at the hotel’s renowned Finca restaurant.

Today you will be blown away by some of the most exhilarating riding of your life. Feast your eyes on breathtaking views before snaking your way down to the Iznajar Dam and arriving at the market town of Rute. Cruise into the old town square where jamón maker Juan is waiting with a splendid tapas lunch of his own creation. With our bellies full, choose to transfer back to our hotel or ride a bit more along rolling hilltop roads with dramatic scenery. This evening, taste caviar unlike anything you’ve ever tried at Europe’s first organic freshwater sturgeon farm. Dinner follows with a delicious meal of organic trout or smoked sturgeon at a charming century-old restaurant nearby.

Choose to pedal or shuttle to the town of Antequera where we begin an awe-inspiring ride through the Abdalajis mountain range. Featured in the 2015 Vuelta a España, this route takes us over rolling terrain with majestic views of valleys covered in wild lavender and fields of swaying wheat. Enjoy lunch overlooking the El Chorro gorge before continuing on these scenic routes to the historic village of Ardales and our inn for the night. The afternoon is yours to explore this bustling pueblo blanco or soak up the village atmosphere from the terrace of a café. Tonight, our friend Javier hosts an evening to remember at Yerbaguenä, one of our favorite restaurants in Andalucía.

Today we ride through unspoiled natural parkland, stopping in the quaint farming village of El Burgo before beginning a series of gratifying ascents to the lookout at Puerto del Viento. A seven-mile downhill finale leads us to the historic town of Ronda for a well-deserved lunch. With its spectacular bridge over the Tajo gorge, Spain’s oldest bullring, and Arab-built ramparts, Ronda feels like a huge open-air museum. This afternoon, you are free to explore the sights of this vibrant town and dine at your leisure at one of the many downtown restaurants or tapas bars.

On our way out of Ronda, we’ll pass the old bullring and cross the Puente Nueva to begin a steady six-mile climb to the highest point of the day. After a long, exhilarating descent, we roll through the famed pueblos blancos that have changed little since their Moorish origins. After a light lunch in the village of Gaucín, opt to hop in the van or continue all the way to the hotel—if the day is clear, we may glimpse the Rock of Gibraltar or even the shores of Morocco. Our home for the night is one of the most exclusive hotels along the Costa del Sol, Hotel Finca Cortesin. Soothe sore muscles in the 80,000-square-foot spa or let the hotel limo take you to the exclusive beach club. Tonight, we celebrate the week in sophisticated style at the hotel’s gastronomic restaurant, El Jardín de Lutz.
