Tour by Day

Day One: Welcome to Uruguay
Your guides will greet you at the Buquebus Ferry Boat terminal in Colonia del Sacramento, and we’re off to the charming Narbona Wine Lodge. You’ll be treated to a light lunch followed by the essentials: bike fitting, safety talk, and map review. We’ll start the week with an introductory ride to the lovely riverside town of Punta Gorda. Cruise past vineyards and lagoons, and admire the Río de la Plata. Tonight we’ll delight in regional dishes made with local ingredients at Narbona’s exceptional restaurant.

Day Two: Carmelo Wineries
Cycle through the quaint town of Carmelo and on to Playa Cere to our friend Bernardo’s boutique winery, El Legado. Indulge in Uruguay’s famous Tannat wines, known for their intense ruby color and mature and lasting tannins. From there we ride on to one of the oldest vineyards in Uruguay, Almacen de la Capilla – Bodega Cordano. Enjoy a selection of their different varietals and a tour of the property before we sit down for a typical Uruguayan asado, sampling various meats and other tasty dishes. Spin back to the hotel and relax for a bit before a traditional mate tasting and dinner tonight at one of the best local gems.

Day Three: Carmelo and Colonia del Sacramento
After breakfast we’ll transfer to the gates of the Anchorena Park to cycle through the rolling countryside before arriving at the historical town of Colonia del Sacramento. We will meet with the local historian who will tell us tales of this picturesque city. After lunch at La Florida Restaurant—our favorite spot in the region—you’ll have the opportunity to visit several museums, like the Portuguese Museum of Mosaics and the “Farol.” To finish the day we’ll check into the charming riverside Charco Hotel and take you out to dinner in town.

Day Four: Rio de la Plata to the Gold Coast
This morning we’ll be transferring from the west on to the northeastern reaches of Uruguay’s unspoiled beaches and raw landscapes. Along the way we’ll visit Juanico Vineyards for a cycle around the property, arriving at the winery’s lake for a Champagne toast. Enjoy a fantastic asado in the great hall paired with some of their exquisite wines. Next, we’ll continue on to the stunning coastal plains where our hotel Aguaverde is set. Tonight you are free to explore the chic town of Punta del Este where your guides can provide great dining recommendations. A shuttle to and from the city center will be available so you can enjoy the city at your leisure.

Day Five: Uruguayan Riviera to José Ignacio
We’ll start our day’s ride by cycling on quiet roads surrounded by open plains and gently rolling hills to the monumental sculpture park Fundacion, showcasing works of national and international artists. We’ll continue by bike and reach the coast with expansive views of the Atlantic. Cycle through the small ocean-side village of Manantiales and on to the remote fishing village of José Ignacio for lunch. Next, choose to hop in the van or cycle the rest of the way to our exclusive retreat Estancia Vik. Tonight we dine at the beachside restaurant La Huella for an unforgettable meal set in the sand dunes of Playa Brava.

Day Six: Ride from Garzón to Anastacio
This morning we’ll transfer to the village of Garzón, founded in 1892 by Fermin de León where we will ride to Agroland’s Colinas de Garzon, an amazing olive oil plant surrounded by olive trees and vineyards. An indulgent wine and olive oil tasting awaits us after our tour of the property. Back on our bikes we’ll ride through gaucho country to the beautiful Anastasio lagoon to participate in a cooking class where we’ll prepare regional dishes. Opt to ride or transfer back to the hotel where our cycling tour comes to an end. Tonight we’ll gather for a special farewell dinner at Estancia Vik.

Day Seven: Adios to Uruguay
