Day One: Welcome to Catalonia
Your DuVine guides will greet you at the Vilafant train station and drive you to the nearby city center of Figueras for a guided visit of the intriguing Salvador Dalí museum. A short stroll takes us to our favorite tapas bar for some bite-sized pintxos (gourmet tapas) such as gazpacho and spicy patatas bravas. Our first ride after lunch finds us spinning along quiet, tree-lined country roads and over the gently rolling hills that form the base of the Pyrenees. This evening we will toast our first day with a glass of local Cava before enjoying some local specialties at our hotel’s acclaimed restaurant.

Lunch will be prepared for us by chef Toni and his wife Silvia in the tree-shaded garden of their delightful local eatery specializing in traditional Catalan cuisine. Then a short spin takes us to our luxury hotel, Mas de Torrent, where you will have time to relax at the hotel pool or experience the fabulous spa facilities. We will stop at a pottery producer in the town of La Bisbal before meeting our friend Hans at his family’s 800-year-old olive oil farm for a gourmet picnic featuring the de Roos family’s olive oil. This evening, we drive to one of the most exclusive wine producers of the Baix Emporda for a visit of their unique winery, followed by an organic dinner with panoramic views, prepared for us by our friends Pepi and Angel.

Next choose to ride on, or hop in the van for a short transfer to our colonial style home for the next two nights, La Malcontenta. Relax at the pool, arrange a massage, or walk down to Castell beach. This evening your guides will transfer you back to Palamos time on your own to enjoy wine and tapas on a seafront terrace or dinner at your leisure.

Next we’ll descend to the small fishermen’s cove of Sa Tuna where we’ll enjoy a paella lunch on the picturesque terrace and perhaps a refreshing dip in the crystalline waters.
