Your guides will meet you in San Francisco, and we’ll head north across the Golden Gate Bridge toward Sonoma. Settle into your Healdsburg hotel before a brief bike fitting and safety talk, then it’s off on Sonoma’s quiet roads through rolling hills of vineyards and shady oak groves. Stop for lunch at the ever-popular Jimtown General Store, then loop back to our hotel in Healdsburg—riders looking for a greater challenge can add some extra miles. Our first dinner together is at our favorite Healdsburg restaurant, the perfect introduction to California cuisine.

Pause for a coffee in Geyserville before continuing over Canyon Road into the picturesque Dry Creek Valley. Lunch is served at our favorite local sandwich shop, then it’s off to a nearby vineyard to play winemaker for the day. Learn about the art of blending as you mix varietals to make your own perfect wine. This evening, Healdsburg is your oyster; your guides are happy to recommend one of the town’s many acclaimed restaurants, where menus are splashed with seasonal ingredients.

Hop off the bike and walk beneath the imposing canopy of Armstrong Redwoods to reach a picnic of fall’s finest abundance, set beneath these 300-foot trees. After lunch, we point ourselves to the coast, pedaling down iconic Route 1 with waves crashing beneath us and the wind at our backs. Given the goodness growing in California this time of year, no ride is complete without a stop to sample the treats at a local bakery. Later, learn about the California oyster harvest at Hog Island Oyster before a just-shucked oyster lunch overlooking Tomales Bay. Transfer to Sonoma by van if your belly is full, or continue riding a series of challenging rollers. The evening is spent in historic Sonoma with its abundance of exceptional restaurants. Our morning spin takes us into the heart of Napa Valley, and we’ll stop for lunch at a classic Yountville joint. Then it’s on to a small winery for a walk through their vineyards and tasting of classic Napa Cabernet. We coast into the aptly-named Harvest Inn, just outside of Saint Helena, to celebrate our last evening together.

    Famed Napa Valley

Our final day goes out with a bang—first, a ride to an olive oil tasting unlike any other. Located on a remote ranch, this hidden producer in Pope Valley feels miles away from Napa. We’ll regroup at the hotel, then bring you to Mad Fritz, our favorite local brewery. Sip some brews from their seasonal selection surrounded by fermentation tanks doing their work in your midst. Sated with Napa Valley’s finest food and drink, it’s finally time to return to San Francisco where we’ll bid each other farewell, our legs a little stronger than when we started.
