    Welcome to Liguria

Your guides will greet you at the Genoa Piazza Principe train station and whisk you to the seaside town of Camogli. Toast to the beginning of our trip and set off on a short hike to a hidden village for lunch at our favorite local trattoria. After a bike fitting, safety talk, and map review, pedal through the maritime pines and coastal villas en route to the seaside town of Santa Margherita. Palm trees and pastel buildings skirt the cerulean sea as we ride the final kilometers to our hotel in Portofino. Settle into your room, take a stroll around town, swim at our private beach, and get ready for tonight’s dinner overlooking the harbor.

After lunch at Giorgio’s restaurant, ferry back to Portofino or challenge yourself with a hike back through the Regional Park. Spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach, kayaking, or snorkeling in the picturesque bay of Portofino. This evening we’ll visit our friend Fausto at his restaurant/home/cartoon gallery in the hills above Santa Margherita for an entertaining cooking class and Ligurian dinner using the freshest seasonal ingredients.

We’ll tackle the Passo del Bracco, followed by a final push over the heights to Moneglia for a well-deserved lunch by the sea. Retreat to our hotel, a converted medieval monastery just a few blocks away, or stroll along the beach. Tonight, regroup for dinner at Edoardo’s restaurant and feast as the sun sinks into the sea.

Today’s ride takes us high above Moneglia to the Bracco Pass, followed by a sweeping descent into Bonassola, just north of the Cinque Terre. As our surroundings shift from Mediterranean vistas to coastal pine clusters, we reach an old railway tunnel reinvented as a bike path which we’ll follow to our favorite hidden beach. After lunch at a local trattoria in Levanto, opt for an extra ride back to Moneglia or hop a train to spend the afternoon exploring the Cinque Terre on foot. These five fishing villages, with their pastel houses that seem to teeter above the rugged coast, are sure to capture your imagination.
